Photo a Day (65): The Last Draw

It has been 14 years and 8 months since my daughter had her final chemotherapy treatment. The first 5 years after treatment were spent getting cat scans, numerous blood draws and an annual echo cardiogram. The next 10 years mainly consisted of annual blood draws and the echo cardiograms. Today marked the final day that she will need blood drawn in relation to her neuroblastoma diagnosed when she was an infant. She will continue to be in long term follow up program at Children's Hospital until she is 21 and will need echo's every five years throughout adulthood. The doctors gave her a nasty (get effective) little orange drug called Doxorubicin when she was young and it is tough on the heart. She seems to have handled it just fine thus far. I am proud of how Kylie has handled her annual trips to Children's hospital. We are greatly appreciative and are well aware that she was one of the lucky ones coming out of that place. The first image today is of Kylie with Mickey. When Kylie was young she looked forward to "high fiving" Mickey as he greeted us for our hospital visits. She used to have to reach up to him! The second is a shot of the final blood draw...

Shot Thought: Mainly point and shoot so as not to embarrass the teenager!
