Spent a lovely morning with this heron. He (or she) is definitely the most coiffured bird in the pacific northwest--my patience waned with the endless preening! It was, however, a quiet and "bird sound" filled morning waiting for this very large creature to take flight.
Shot Thought: Wanting to get the best clarity possible for the take-off I had the following settings-- ISO 400, 1/1000sec, f4.0, WB set for sun, center metered and focal length of 280mm, tripod mount. Always a learning process.
