Photo a Day (32): Summertime

Today was a sad day. We had to leave the paradise known as San Juan Island. Though the weather was a bit gray early on in our visit, the last few days were full of warm walks on the beach, coffee on the deck, a sunny and exhilarating boat ride to visit friends and the activity most enjoyed by the younger set--the rope swing. The images today are of our tree house--built by my father in the early 1960's. Attached to the tree house is the beloved rope swing--often used as a serene reading space. After nearly 50 years, the tree house still stands today and provides many with both a wonderful view and timeless memories on the rope swing.

Shot Thought: The tree house image was taken at 5:45am--the early morning sun perfectly illuminated the scene. For the shot of my daughter I set the ISO to 800, TV 200 and aperture to f5.6--the swinging motion was frozen and the light hit her appropriately.
