Photo a Day (221): Faithful Companion...Always Has Been...Alway Will Be

(Preface: He is just sleeping!) It is very hard to be the owner of an aging dog. The images today contrast the "now and then" of our wonderful lab, Beaumont. He as always been a bit of an "old soul". The second image (take years ago)reminded me that he was indeed once a vibrant, healthy dog--dashing along in the snow. In the past five years, however, he has steadily declined--for numerous reasons. We have always said, if Beaumont were human, he would have thick black glasses, the sniffles and a pocket protector. He is, and has always been, a wonderfully kind and gentle dog--no one could ask for more. The first shot today is how we seem most days--sleeping peacefully. His tail still wags, he can still make it the couple of blocks to the park or the river...but mostly, he sleeps. My hope is that one day he will just continue to sleep--and catch up with his cousins in the big field by the Rainbow Bridge.

Shot Thought: A bit sad...
